Kids for a Cooler Planet is working to expand its successful reusable bag project across both New Hampshire and Vermont. We have successfully passed two resolutions - one in the Vermont legislature and on in the New Hampshire legislature.
We have been working with the Dartmouth College Education Department on a curriculum unit on plastic, paper, and reusable bags for elementary age children. The unit has been piloted in elementary school classrooms. This fun, imaginative unit helps children learn about the problems with disposable bags and how their families can do their part to help the environment. The unit will conform to state curriculum standards and is available for download.
We are also editing a public service announcement that we filmed with the help of a professional director and another kid’s service organization, “Change the World Kids” (Changetheworldkids.com). The PSA will help raise more awareness of the environmental problems with disposable bags. The announcement will hopefully be aired in the next few months.
